Chimpanzees are amazing communicators. Other than their vocalizations we all know and love, chimpanzees also use a wide array of gestures to communicate. Jamie is one of the best at this. As you might be aware, Jamie is a being with some very particular tastes. When she wants something, she usually won’t let up until she gets it. Sometimes this takes several tries. Sometimes it takes more than one person to decipher Jamie’s code. In this case it was both! As you can see in the video, Jamie would point at J.B., then point at me. It took us a little while, but we ended up figuring it out! She wanted the thing J.B. was carrying and the thing I was carrying, and for us to put them together. It now seems kind of obvious in hindsight, but in the moment, it was really, really confusing.

So fun to see that entire sequence! What a eureka moment.
That was excellent! What I really appreciate is how you drop everything to listen to Jamie’s request and do everything (like running around carrying Jamie’s table in a chase like game…well done J.B.!!) to try to meet Jamie’s needs. While I know Jamie loves and appreciates you, she must have been thinking how hard can it be to get you two clowns to understand she wants you to add water back in her table when you‘re done cleaning. Humans! (Personally, I’m impressed how quickly you both figured it out!)

On another note, the coconut oil on Rayne’s forehead seems o be doung the trick! It looks great!
Fantastic video and Jamie- who has certainly learnt the art of getting her needs met-wouldn’t give up her request which just shows that persistency pays. A light globe moment for Chad and J B when the penny or I should the dollar dropped. Eureka indeed. I also loved the bonus photos of the lunch forage. Thanks for sharing.
I just adore Jamie so much! I love how she’s sure to let you all know what she wants. It must feel pretty amazing when you figure out what she’s thinking.
