Warm, sunny and grassy!

Just in time for some warm weather, Honey B, Mave and Willie B have had full access to their new and very refreshing green house enclosures for three days now. They have been very busy exploring the new areas, from lounging way up in the platforms to get a good view of the neighbors, to figuring out what the grass is all about. While Honey B has sprinted from side to side through the grass multiple times, for the moment the three still opt to use logs, structures, blankets or chimp furniture to move around.

Here is Honey B, using one of the logs to move around in the Green House

Honey B holding a small cleaning brush to brush the grass, cleaning is her thing

Honey B perched in one of the windows, taking it all in

Willie B measuring how to get to the chimp furniture for his next step

Mave would agree that there is always time for some relaxed lounging and sun basking

On the other side of the Chimp House, Jody was seen enjoying some forage she found in the hill

Warm days equal “chill” days, Missy approves

Thanks for the picture of Honey B sweeping the log. Hysterical – made my night!

Perhaps a group of you could make a big show of removing your shoes and socks and go barefoot in the grass, with the three looking on?

The chimps finding the grass strange makes me sad but it is wonderful that they have so much to do.
It’s freezing (for me) Down Under but thinking how these guys love their blankets my dogs can thank the chimps for all the extra blankets I put in their baskets this morning!

I saw tour morning show people in NZ, wrapped in wool coats, and thought “does it really get that cold there, outside of the mountains!?”

Has Willy B stopped going into the courtyard?

    • Avatar Linda C on June 18, 2021 at 5:59 pm

I’ve been wondering the same for a couple of weeks now, Chris!

No, he gets Courtyard time daily. He is still the only one that goes out there to forage and explore.

I don’t know why I thought that the top picture of Jo looked like she had a cigar in her mouth, but for a split second, that’s what I saw! 😀
I’m glad the Californians are getting used to their new greenhouses rather quickly! Exploring must be more fun with friends….I’m curious as to whether or not they are still interested in the chute (or if it’s still open to them).

Great to see that Honey B is taking on cleaning chores! I’m still puzzled by who gets which rooms and spaces after the Lucky 6 arrive. Perhaps you could get Jamie with her set of plans to colour in who goes where?

The Lucky 6 will have access to playrooms and green houses during quarantine time, after quarantine things were change.

It does my heart and soul good to see how relaxed they all are.

These photographs — and their subjects — are just a treasure to view. Well done, Sofia, and thank you.

What great photos! I love them all…..

Just wondering, they certainly go outside on the grass, why is the grass inside their new enclosure such a puzzlement? Jo-Anne ??

Many captive chimps live exclusively on cement floor, new flooring substrate sometimes requires bit of adjustment.

Honey B is a girl after my own heart…sweep, sweep! I really enjoyed the photos, thank you Sofia.

The logs were a well planned and much needed addition for this group! Now all you need to do is give Honey B a lawnmower and you’re set! Lovely photo of dear Jody and chillin’ Missy.
