Why Not Play!

The blog originally was going to be about the chimps playing outside in the Green House, Chute, and Young’s Hill all day. Until, I walked into Phase 1 of the building and found Honey B and Mave playing like CRAZY! The all caps is important, because they were wild. Today’s enrichment theme was paper day. Which, if you asked me, I would put a lot of money on that being Honey B’s favorite day. Before I even walked through the door I could hear them playing. They were breathy panting, paper rustling, and I could hear them running. Not just running, but what sounded like they were running and throwing things around! What I wasn’t expecting was for them to be chasing each other on the enclosure caging and hanging on fire hose to get to each other. This was a play session to see!
This photo makes me smile. Willy B was admiring himself in the camera and Honey B popped up to be in the photo.

I’m a Pal of Honey B and I so enjoyed this video of she and Mave, two goofballs.
Super silly shenanigans going on when you closed in on the crinkling, laughing, slapping, biting fun fest! I thought all this action was ridiculously funny and then came Mave’s ear pokes. Get out! These two are hysterical. There is nothing better for your soul than a best friend. Thanks Kelsi for the extra photos too.

Paper day=fun, just don’t have a toilet paper spider web day until this all blows over, or I might have to cry….
Chimp friends laughing, pant hooting & having some all out fun playing together…It can’t get much better than that…Thank you Kelsi, for giving me something to laugh at & get excited about on a day like today when there seems so little to celebrate…

This makes my heart sing!!! These girls have known each other since they were one and to see them so playful, secure, and happy is EVERYTHING! Thank you all for loving and caring for them so wonderfully!
This video started my day with laughs! It also says a lot about how safe, confident and secure these chimps must feel in their home. The play of “no worries”—“we can’t be in the wild, but we know we are cared about, have plenty of food, and opportunities to use our minds”. Thank you each for your skills and work for these wonderful beings!
