Rain, nap, repeat

The rain has poured down all day long here and is expected to continue through the night. It’s predicted to be sunny and a bit warmer the rest of the week so until then the chimps have been napping, grooming, enjoying pineapple coconut juice water buckets, food puzzles and some silly games with the humans as they continue to rest, recover and wait out the rainy day.

    Hi Katelyn,
I’m wondering if Mr B has had opportunity to oversee Willy Bs slinky skills yet? (Or vice versa). Theough the windows or mesh, of course…

      Hi Linda,
B nor Willy have not had a chance to see one another’s slinky skills yet, that I’m aware of. Hopefully one day soon they can have a slinky bro-fest together, haha. 😉

That’s the idea…..maybe their “slinky love” will bring them together haha.. can’t hurt, right?!

Funny, that’s been MY day, exactly! And you also have our exact forecast for the rest of the night and week.

Spooky, innit, living in a parallel chimp universe? Ha!

Cheers. (Still have a major crush on my Mr. Burrito-toes!) <3

What an angel face Burrito has!! Never met him but love him to pieces!!!

After all they’ve been through in their lives, they deserve to nap a day away if they desire. I’m so happy they get to make their own decisions.

It looks like Erin made Mr. Burrito a bed again – or it’s left over from yesterday? He looks ever so comfy and cozy.

Mr. B’s sleepy face just made my day. Sweet dreams sweet boy.

The photos of Burrito made my day! Thank you for making me smile on this rainy day.

Is it just me? Burrito appears beleaguered?! I just want to let him know all will be okay!!! In the third photo seems he is doing major processing.

It’s not just you. He doesn’t look his usual jovial self in any of the pics recently. He looks frustrated and sad to me. His eyes are so intense and seem to be pleading. I could have it all wrong of course. I share your wish. If only there was a way to reassure him that good things are coming and all will be well.

Well, it was only a few months ago that he was in isolation after a surgical procedure. Hes probably flashing back to that period, besides all of the new things and missing his friends.

Marcia (and Holly and Linda), thanks for your concern about Burrito. As noted, he is merely preparing to fall asleep. It’s important to remember that he is continuing to recover from a somewhat serious injury and remains on antibiotics which also make him sleepy. The majority of the day he’s active, alert, and much like his old self so he’s doing fine. Just still recovering as are all the primates.:)

Thanks, Katelyn. I’ve been happy to see, in Anthony’s post, that he’s once again climbing the caging and looking out, instead of staying low to the floor.

Thanks for the clarity Katelyn. I know that the glimpses we see in the posts are but a tiny fraction of their daily lives. I also know that you, as caregivers, are doing everything humanly possible to keep all 10 chimps as happy and content as possible, every day of every week of the year. I think you’re doing an amazing job, so I hope my comments didn’t sound judgemental at all.

          • Avatar Katelyn on October 22, 2019 at 6:02 pm

Thank you, Marcia, and no worries at all. We appreciate that everyone is concerned and inquiring as to the chimpanzees’ well-being and are always happy to answer questions. We recognize that it’s hard for us all to see them injured, feeling unwell, or adjusting to changes, even those times that are part of life as a chimpanzee (or human 🙂 ).

Picture #1. Burrito thinks he sees a ghost…
Picture #2. Burrito is trying to frighten the “ghost” with his scary teeth…
Picture #3. Burrito is so happy to realize the “ghost” was just a dream, & he falls back asleep
with a sweet grin on his face…He’ll soon start dreaming again, but this time it’s about hearing the sounds made when his such is about to be served… : )

awww Burrito…You have captured my heart, hook..line…& sinker…Ha…

I like your post’s interpretation of Burrito’s photographs. How I hope that he will heal soon, and that he can get to know Willy B, Mave, and Honey B.
