Volunteer caregiver Becca swung by the sanctuary today to drop off some produce for the chimpanzees. It was supposed to be a quick visit but as soon as Jamie spotted her, she recruited her for a couple of runs (runs!) around Young’s Hill. After the perimeter runs, a grooming session in the greenhouse was in order. Jamie eventually requested that Becca hand over the boot she was wearing, so she had to hobble back to the chimp house on one foot. We’ve learned to submit to Jamie’s rule and not complain too much.

What happens if you don’t give her your boot?
They’re technically HER boots that she “makes” us wear for our walks around Young’s Hill. And we wouldn’t dream of not giving them to her when she asks! We know better. 😉
Jamie is the most unbelievable chimp on earth. She always surprises us with her vast abilities. She is multitasking! Amazing. Maybe she would be a good write- in for Governor of Washington! Ha, Ha,
That is simply hysterical (sorry Becca!). And unfortunately it looks like a cold, wet day but I guess, on the positive side, at least there wasn’t any snow for Becca’s bootless foot to plunk in! It is so sweet that Jamie wanted Becca to stay and play.
Knowing Jamie appreciates you, reason enough to make anyone give up the boots!

This is so-ooo-o funny. You caretakers don’t have much of a life of your own, do you? Thanks for starting my day off with a smile after a long night with my sick dog.
