Snow in the sandbox

Cle Elum got a little snow overnight, so this morning after cleaning the playroom Jackie and I gathered some from outside and filled the chimps’ sandbox. We buried some cranberries in there for good measure (you can see Jamie searching for them in this video). The chimps love (to eat) the snow, but aren’t crazy about the chilly temperatures, so they seemed to enjoy having a bit of the outdoors brought inside for them.

I almost didn’t recognize Negra, without a blanket. I still can’t get over how dainty their hand movements can be.

Wish we could have seen Jamie find a cranberry…..and REALLY wish these snippits could be longer. Love what you can share!!!!

I’m here with my grand niece and grand nephew in Texas. They loved seeing the snow pictures and laughed at them looking for cranberries. As always I love anything the chimps are doing. Thanks Elizabeth. It is wonderful to be able to stay in touch.

I could spend alot of time just watching these guys…do anything! Even just standing there trying to figure out what to do next – it’s so amazing that they have a choice! Have you ever thought of putting a “chimp cam” in the playroom?

Oooh! Great idea, Sara! That would be fun!

And LOL – I do love that one fingered, tentative search for a cranberry. 🙂

A chimp cam would be awesome! I could spend hours watching these guys enjoy doing whatever they want. Seeing Negra with the others eating snow instead of under a blanket at the window alone is a treat in itself. I can’t wait to see her looking through a chimp proof window.
