New heights

Negra wasn’t the only one trying something new yesterday.

As I stood near the top of Young’s Hill, I saw Burrito walking towards me with a sense of purpose. When he reached the top, he turned and went straight for the Twister climbing structure. Without hesitation, he climbed straight up. As far as we can remember, this was the first time he had made it to the very top.

The chimps have been spending a lot of time outdoors lately. Our wet, snowy winter is finally repaying us in the form of impossibly green grass.

Along with the green grass there’s been a bounty of dandelions, and that means that the chimps can step outside and have a snack whenever they want. If the chimps only knew how hard people try to rid their lawns of dandelions…

Annie is the girl I’ve adopted and its funny that you showed about the dandelions..when I was a young girl I knew an Italian family who always had dandelion s as lad and also my made dandelion wine (gross). Maybe Annie has some Italian DNA.

I am bursting with JOY over seeing Burrito on the very tippy-top of the twister! Wow! The last photo I remember of burrito braving the twister showed him about halfway up looking a little apprehensive — it was a very, very endearing photo! But look at him now. Oh Mr. B, I wish I could throw my arms around you, I am so proud of you.

And maybe we should learn a lesson from Annie and the chimps, dandelions can be our friends (and the bees love them too!). Who needs a perfectly green manicured yard? Natures bounty exists right in our own back yards.

Love the last photo so much! I guess that’s Annie. Look at her wonderful handful of yummy fresh greens! How wonderful! 🙂 Thank you for a great post!

Wow..what a brave boy Burrito is! We can all learn from him to be brave and confront our fears.

I also love Foxie and her doll. The doll’s hair always makes me laugh. Do the dolls come with clothes? If so, does Foxie remove them off.

So glad all the chimps can be out exploring as if in the wild.

Yes, the dolls typically come with clothes, which over time are removed – usually by the other chimps. Arms and legs eventually get removed as well, but Foxie loves her dolls regardless.

So happy for Negra and Burrito exploring and doing things they never did before and feeling safe enough to do it. Love all of these wonderful creatures and all of you for making this possible. ???
