Burrito can be a little reserved in social situations, so it was especially nice to see him working so hard to get Foxie to play with him this morning.

Ah, that’s so sweet 🙂 This is a bit random, but this post made me think of it… does Burrito ever try to mate with the other females? Seems like a natural chimp thing to do at his age but with his reserved demeanor, maybe he doesn’t initiate something like that. Just wondering. All aspects of chimpanzee behavior fascinates me!
Aside from a couple of brief and unsuccessful attempts very early on, he doesn’t. Just in case, though, he has been vasectomized to avoid any unwanted babies.

Great way for me to end the work day…..with an awesome video that made me laugh out loud. I swear at the beginning of the video, Foxie sort of looks in the direction of the camera like, “…..he isn’t going to give up is he?….”
The poor guy looked a little desperate there. His attempt were sweet though, and you can tell he’s really trying to come out of his shell.
I was wondering to myself if he ever wants male companionship, as he would’ve had in a troop. Though, I know that can be a can of worms since two males can be allies one day, and competitors the next.
It’s certainly possible that he sees male humans as a kind of male companionship though. Does he express any preferences for any of the caregivers, men or women?
Sometimes I think that he’d appreciate the company of another male, but it’s hard to say. He does seem to have favorite human friends, but he doesn’t seem to discriminate along gender lines. 🙂
Even if he didn’t get a full play session out of it, at least it looks like he got a little back massage, or was Foxy just trying to tickle his ribs?
I bet if he ran off with her troll doll, he’d get a real chase out of her 🙂

Wonderful! He really was persistent and Foxie had that look, Oh, Well! But she seemed to enjoy it finally and I loved the part where he had his arms behind his back and Foxie was giving him royal treatment. Thanks, Elizabeth, this was a real treat.
